Poker Tournaments
How to join a tournament
To enter a tournament, one must pay a buy-in. (Usually there is no rake fee.)
If you join a tournament of, say, $10 - $2,
that means that you pay $2 dollars for the room which is hosting the poker tournament
and $10 dollars for the prize pot.
After you pay the entering fee, a table and seat will be assigned to you, in a random manner.
Once joining in you receive a set amount of chips, just like any other player in the tournament.
The poker game itself in a tournament is identical to any regular poker game.
However, the betting limits might be different from what you are use to.
In order to speed up the play, some tournaments increase the betting limits with every round.
Also, each round has a time limit.
Once a round is finished, the sum of the blinds is increased and the next game begins.
Players drop out, until one remaining table plays the final round. In some tournaments,
the final game is played in front of a live audience and television cameras.
The game is played until one player wins it all and takes the prize pot.
