Some tournaments play the stakes REALLY high. A tournament can charge each player a fee of $10,000 dollars. In high stake games, the size of pot is so big that it will usually be distributed amongst several top players, and not just the one winning player.

For example, if 200 people play a tournament which hold an entrence fee of $10,000 dollars, that means that the size of the pot is 2 million dollars! In such an event the winner will receive, say, $700,000 dollars, and the next best 25 players will split the remaining 1.3 million dollars.
