Medal of Honor Game Server
Networked Robotics reported today that use of its unique servers for the Medal of Honor Breakthrough demo computer game continues to peak as the world focuses on the Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. The only demo site which identifies each player by country, Networked Robotics has hosted players from 56 countries and 46 states, and now averages more than 2000 players a day. Were the international server, says Mark Woodford, Networked Robotics president, Where you play the best in the world. While competition is always stiff, Woodford notes that the rivalries between international players are definitely becoming even more serious. We always identify the Player of the Day by country, and keep a display of how each country is faring. Server use is around-the-clock, and we used to see players from North and South America in the evening, Asia and Australia in the early morning, and Europe, Africa and the Mid-East in the late morning and early afternoon. Now, especially during weekends, players come on-line at all hours just for the chance to take on the best from other areas of the world. The scorecard to date reveals a few surprises. While players from the U.S. win the Player of the Day title (based on kills) about 50% of the time, Canada comes in second and the Netherlands third. The United Kingdom and Belgium are tied behind the Netherlands in Europe, while Korea holds a slight lead over Japan and Taiwan in Asia, according to Woodford. As in the Olympics, the medal race holds a few disappointments, too. The former Soviet Republics have not won, nor has Israel or any other Mid-Eastern or African country. China, with lots of players, has also yet to win. Closer to home, and in what may be a challenge, Woodford says that players from California, Illinois, New York, Virginia, Texas, and Florida lead the U.S., while the most of the Midwest and South have not yet had winners. Medal of Honor Breakthrough is a multi-player, WWII game for Windows and Mac, created by EA Games. |
