S'SAVING BETS (Or PUSHING BETS) - An agreement a player makes with other players, that he will return his bets once he wins a pot (which they, obviously, had lost).
SCOOP - In a split pot game, to win both halfs of the pot.
SCRAMBLE - Mixing the cards when they are faced down.
SETUP - Two packets of card decks, which are differentiated by the colors of the back of the cards. The setup decks are set to replace a deck which is being played with.
SEVENTH STREET - In a game of Seven Card Stud poker, the last card dealt or the last round of betting.
SIDE POT - A separate pot, which is used when a player or players are all-in.
SIXTH STREET - In a game of Seven Card Stud poker, the forth card which is dealt face-up ,or the fourth round of bets.
SHORT BUY - A sum which a player puts before entering a game which is smaller than the sum which is required to pay in order to join that game.
SHOWDOWN - A revealing of the cards, done by all the players after the last betting round is over.
SHUFFLE - To mix the cards in the deck.
SMALL BLIND - The smallest required ante made before the cards are dealt by the player sitting left of the dealer
SPLIT POT - A pot which is divided amongst players.
SPLITTING BLINDS - If after the blinds are set no other player puts a bet in the pot, the players who placed the blinds may choose not to continue playing but rather to withdraw their money.
SPLITTING OPENERS - In a high draw poker game of Jacks-or-better, letting go of one or more opening cards with the hope of receiving a better card instead.
STACK - The pile of chips a player puts on the table.
STEAL - When a player makes his opponent fold by betting or raising even though his hand isn't that good.
STRADDLE - A blind which comes in addition to the big and small obligatory blinds and is bigger in size. In most poker games a straddle would be twice to size of the big blind.
STRAIGHT - A hand ranking in poker, describing five cards in sequence, and not of the same suit.
STRAIGHT FLUSH - A hand ranking in poker, describing five cards in sequence which are of the same suit.
STREET - In Stud poker, the name of a particular round or the cards which are dealt in that round. So fifth street, for example, is the name of the fifth card being dealt and sthe name of the round of bets that starts after the fifth card was dealt.
STRING RAISE - When a player makes a bet and does so in more than one move. Unless he declared it a raise, it is forbidden to.
STUB - The part of the deck of cards, which has not been yet given out to the players.
SUPERVISOR - Someone who works in a card-room that is skilled and qualified to make a decision about a game when necessary. It may be the card-room manager, the floorpeson or another employee.
SUITED - Cards that are of a shared suit.
T'TABLE STAKES:
(1) The sum a player has in front of him, on the table, with which he can add to the pot throughout that hand.
(2) A constraint that says a player can play only with the chips he has at the start of the hand. A player may purchase more chips only in-between hands.
THIRD STREET - In a game of Seven Card Stud poker, the first round of bets. Called third because it starts after the third card was dealt.
TIGHT - A game which has fewer hands playing than in average.
TIME - A call to stop a player from starting an action.
TIME COLLECTION - A sum paid in advance to rent a seat in a poker table.
TOP PAIR - Finding the pair of the highest ranking card given out.
TOURNAMENT - A poker contest. Usually to join in a player needs to pay an entry fee. Most contests also give away prizes.
TURNCARD - In a game of Texas Hold'em or Omaha, the fourth card which is dealt. (It is a community card, placed face-up on the board.)

UPCARDS - In Stud poker, cards which are given to the players when they're facing up, so everyone around the table can see them.
