A'ACES UP - Two pair hand, consisting of one pair of Aces.
ACTION - A bet, check, call, raise or fold. Sometimes other actions which are done during a poker game would also be considered an action. For example, putting your cards face up on the table at the end of the hand.
ACTIVE PLAYER - Someone who's still playing that specific hand.
AGGRESSIVE ACTION - A bet that wins a pot without a showdown; a bet or raise.
ALL BLUE - A flush containing cards of all spades or clubs.
ALL-IN - If during a hand a player is left with no money/chips, after having put it all in the pot.
ALL PINK - A flush containing cards of all hearts or diamonds.
ANTE - The prescribed sum put in the pot by all the players before beginning a hand.
B'BACK DOOR - Making a hand that the player wasn't drawing at.
BACK RAISE - when one player re-raises another player's raise.
BAD BEAT - when one player's hand is beaten by a hand that was actually of lower rank.
BET - putting either money or chips into the pot as a wager
BIG BLIND - The largest required ante made before the cards are dealt by the player sitting second to the left of the dealer
BLANK - A card that is practically insignificant to that hand.
BLIND - A bet which is made by a player sitting left of the dealer or 2 spots left of the dealer before the dealer gives out the cards.
BLIND GAME - A game in which a blind is in use.
BLUFF - when a player with a weak hand chooses to bet and/or raise.
BOARD -
1. A card which is on the table, face up, and can be used by any player.
2. A board consisting a waiting list of players.
BOARDCARD - A "community" card which is put face-up, for everyone to see (used in Omaha and Texas Hold'em, for instance).
BOTTOM PAIR - Finding the pair of the lowest ranking card on the board.
BOXED CARD - A card which is face-up as oppose to all the other cards.
BROKEN GAME - A game which no longer continues.
BUTTON - Having a player that act as the dealer.
BUTTON GAME - A games which uses a dealer button.
BUY-IN - The minimum sum required to take part in that poker table.
C'CALIFORNIA LOWBALL - An a draw game, where the lowest hand wins, a sequence of cards from Ace to five, including a joker.
CALL - matching a previous bet (without raising it)
CARDS SPEAK - No matter what a player might say - what counts at the end of the round is the ranking value of his hand
CAPPED - When in a game of limited poker the maximum number of raises has been obtained.
CHECK - a player says "check" when he or she don't want to make the next bet but wish to stay in the game and see whether another player puts forward a bet.
CHECK-RAISE - Passing the right to make a bet now while making a commitment that if another player makes a bet, than in your turn you'll increase the bet by at least the same sum.
COLD CALL - To bet first in a round.
COLLECTION - A fee in a poker game, taken either from each player or from the pot.
COLLECTION DROP - A fee for each hand.
COLOR CHANGE - changing the color of your chips, and changing their money value this way.
COMMON CARD - In a game of stud poker, when there aren't enough cards in the deck to be given to every player, a common card is put face-up in the middle, and can be used by any player.
COMMUNITY CARDS - In a game of Texas Hold'em or Omaha poker, cards which are put face-up on the table and may be used by any player.
COMPLETE THE BET - In a game of limited poker, raising to its maximum limit the amount of an all-in or a compulsory bet.
CHASE - To play a hand which is probably worse than at least one other hand playing
CHECK - Passing a turn without placing a bet.
CUT - Dividing the deck into two, in order to change the order of the cards.
CUT-CARD - Synonym for bottom card.
